Currency: The official Romanian currency is the Romanian leu (RON). The exchange rate at this time is about 1 USD= 2.9 RON and 1 EURO=3.6 RON. This is the new currency introduced in July 1st by The Romanian National Bank. The new exchange rate is the result of the denomination of the former Romanian currency (ROL). However, the old Romanian currency is still on the market, so you can get a 10,000.00 ROL banknote and a 1 RON banknote with the same value in shops. The good part is that banknotes with the same commercial value have the same colors and pictures on them. Foreign currency can be changed at any bank or exchange office. Please be careful to check all the commissions applied.
